We deliver conservation solutions so agricultural producers can protect natural resources and feed a growing world.
The Agricultural Management Assistance (AMA) program is designed to help agricultural producers manage financial risks by encouraging practices related to diversification, marketing, or natural resource conservation. It is administrated by the NRCS, aiming to support the construction or improvement of water management or irrigation structures, the planting of trees for windbreaks or to improve water quality, and risk mitigation through practices like soil erosion control, integrated pest management, or transitioning to organic farming. The program offers financial assistance covering up to 75 percent of the cost of installing conservation practices, with a cap of $50,000 per participant per fiscal year. Notably, it provides a higher cost-share for historically underserved producers, while participants must comply with the Adjusted Gross Income provisions of the Food Security Act of 1985 but are exempt from its Highly Erodible Land and Wetland Conservation provisions.
