The USDA Rural Utilities Service (RUS) mission is to enhance the quality of life and improve economic opportunity in rural communities by providing financing for the basic infrastructure of modern life.
The Distance Learning and Telemedicine (DLT) Program, authorized by 7 U.S.C. 950aaa, aims to enhance and improve telemedicine and distance learning services in rural areas. Through financial support, the program focuses on the use of telecommunications-enabled information, alongside audio and video equipment and related advanced technologies, by students, teachers, medical professionals, and rural residents. The primary goal is to expand rural access to educational, training, and healthcare resources which are limited or otherwise unavailable in these areas.
