The Western Indiana Community Foundation, founded in 1990, is a public charity aimed at the prosperity, expansion, and enhancement of its community. It seeks to utilize donated funds for the betterment of their communities through its four affiliate funds: Attica, Southeast Fountain, Covington, and Vermillion County Community Foundations.
The grant program focuses on addressing local needs within the school corporation boundaries of Fountain and Vermillion Counties, prioritizing health, charitable service, education, cultural affairs, and community improvement. Grants are considered for projects such as startup costs for new programs, one-time projects, capital needs beyond an organization’s capabilities, and initiatives that affect a broad scope of people. Moreover, the program supports projects that fill a gap in service, meet a significant need, enhance an organization’s ability to serve the local population, and, when possible, encourage cooperation or partnership with other organizations.
