The mission of the Alabama State Council on the Arts is to enhance the quality of life and economic vitality for all Alabamians by providing support for the state’s diverse and rich artistic resources.
To accomplish the Council’s mission, the grant focuses on supporting proposals that prioritize goals such as supporting excellence and professionalism in the arts, providing high-quality arts education for every Alabama student and lifelong learner, ensuring all Alabamians have opportunities to experience the arts, preserving folk art traditions, promoting diverse cultural artistic expressions, recognizing the arts as a driver of economic vitality, and increasing public recognition for the arts and artists. Project Grants, the most common grant type, support a variety of activities including festivals, performances, exhibitions, author readings, and more, aimed at providing positive arts experiences for the public.
