The ASHG Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Society, recognizing significant and extensive contributions to the field of human genetics. This award celebrates individuals who have demonstrated a sustained period of scientific inquiry and productivity, resulting in foundational discoveries that have profoundly influenced the genetics discipline. Criteria for the award include groundbreaking discoveries, innovative ideas and approaches with a lasting impact, sustained productivity over decades, contribution to diversity, and the mentorship of emerging scientists. The award includes an engraved medal, a $25,000 monetary prize, and the opportunity to publish an acceptance manuscript in The American Journal of Human Genetics. This accolade is awarded annually but may be withheld at the discretion of the Board.
