The Baldwin Hills Conservancy’s mission is to acquire open space, manage public lands, provide recreation, restore and protect wildlife habitat, and enhance educational experiences on public lands in their jurisdiction, consistent with the protection of lands and resources in the area.
The grant program focuses on protecting and enhancing economic benefits from healthy watersheds and fisheries, reducing climate change impacts through watershed adaptation projects, and restoring river parkways across the state. It supports projects that protect and restore aquatic, wetland, and migratory bird ecosystems, remove fish passage barriers, reduce wildfire risks, improve watershed health and storage capacity, and implement agricultural sustainability projects. The strategic plan prioritizes watershed protection and recreation projects with multiple benefits, aiming to align with other local agencies and the California Water Action Plan to support shovel-ready projects that benefit disadvantaged communities and achieve quantifiable outcomes in resource protection, habitat restoration, and urban greening.
