The Community Foundation of Greater Rochester's mission revolves around enhancing the quality of life in the Greater Rochester area. It achieves this by supporting the work of local nonprofits through grants and other support services. With over 35 years of community service and expertise in philanthropy, the Foundation assesses community needs and funds a wide range of charitable purposes, aiming to connect people with causes that matter.
The Community Foundation of Greater Rochester supports various charitable purposes, programs, and projects through its grantmaking efforts, covering social services, food insecurity, health, education, development, training, the environment, trails, recreation, the arts, and youth. The Foundation awards grants year-round to nonprofit organizations engaged in these areas, intending to create sustainable community impact. While it allows donors to recommend grants via Donor Advised Funds, it also enables other donors to make unrestricted contributions, thus granting the Board of Trustees the discretion to respond to community needs as they arise. This approach aims to provide dependable resources to local nonprofits, enhance the quality of life in the community, and ensure that contributions from individuals, families, and businesses of all means can make a lasting difference.
