The mission of Nevada Humanities is to connect and transform communities by sharing and amplifying the stories, ideas, experiences, and traditions of the diverse people of Nevada. It aims to create and support public programs across the state that articulate the Nevada experience and facilitate the exploration of issues important to Nevadans and their communities. These programs focus on preserving local culture and heritage, improving quality of life, enhancing education, and contributing to the state's economic health by stimulating heritage tourism and supporting the nonprofit cultural industry.
Nevada Humanities Mini-Grants support year-round, immediate programmatic needs for Nevada cultural organizations, focusing on innovative projects tailored for Nevada audiences or projects that enhance understanding of Nevada issues, culture, and heritage on a national or international level. Encouraged projects are diverse and can include media programs, exhibitions, forums, workshops, research with public components, educational initiatives, and digital productions. These projects should draw upon the humanities to address significant issues and enrich Nevada’s cultural life, exploring topics like local history, social justice, and the environment. They aim to engage diverse audiences, including underserved communities, and emphasize the inclusion of humanities scholars in the planning and implementation to ensure depth and facilitate community dialogue. Partnerships that bridge the humanities with other fields are also encouraged, expanding the reach and impact of these projects.
