To help sustain a high quality of life for all citizens by protecting and restoring the environment and public health in New Hampshire.
The Aquatic Resource Mitigation (ARM) Fund is aimed at compensating for losses to aquatic resources and functions across New Hampshire. When unavoidable impacts to streams and wetlands occur, an In-Lieu Fee (ILF) payment can be made to the ARM Fund instead of permittee-responsible mitigation. The funds collected are then made available as competitive grants, pooled according to nine Service Areas across the state. The grants support preservation, restoration, and enhancement activities that are ecologically significant and will help sustain aquatic resource functions long-term. This program aligns with the federal goal of achieving “no net loss” in aquatic resources by focusing on activities that restore, enhance, establish, and, in some cases, preserve the ecological integrity of watersheds.
