Competitive & Foundation-Initiated Grant Programs

The Sonora Area Foundation administers competitive and foundation-initiated grants with a focus on enhancing the quality of life in Tuolumne County. • Pilot or Demonstration Project: Encourages innovative approaches to address community challenges, with a well-developed evaluation plan.
• New or Expanded Program: Supports programs addressing local needs, looking for evidence of beneficiary participation and intended impact.
• Capacity Building: Aims to strengthen organizations' abilities to fulfill their missions, emphasizing strategic planning, resource development, and financial independence.
• Foundation-Initiated Grants: Includes emergency/rapid response grants up to $5,000 for unforeseeable events, donor-advised grants, board-initiated grants based on an awareness of community needs, and awards for community impact and exceptional programs or services.
