We deliver conservation solutions so agricultural producers can protect natural resources and feed a growing world.
The Agricultural Management Assistance (AMA) grant program supports agricultural producers in managing financial risk through diversification, marketing, and the implementation of natural resource conservation practices. This initiative focuses on aiding producers in constructing or improving water management and irrigation structures, planting trees for windbreaks or water quality improvement, and adopting practices like soil erosion control, integrated pest management, or transitioning to organic farming to mitigate risk. AMA provides financial assistance covering up to 75 percent of the cost of installing eligible conservation practices, with a cap of $50,000 per participant each fiscal year. The program is designed to be accessible, excluding participants from Highly Erodible Land and Wetland Conservation provisions while adhering to the Adjusted Gross Income provisions of the Food Security Act of 1985. Importantly, AMA includes a higher cost-share option specifically for historically underserved producers, demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity and equitable support within the agricultural community.
