The mission of the funder is to honor children and provide for the needs of Anchorage School District high school choirs, thereby ensuring their continued growth and community engagement.
The Strengthening Organizations grant program by the Alaska Community Foundation focuses on enhancing the capacities of Alaska nonprofits. The program supports projects that aim to improve organizational effectiveness through well-organized systems and skilled staff. With grants up to $10,000, typically in the range of $4,000 to $6,000, it focuses on areas such as leadership development, organizational development, program development, collaboration and community engagement, and effectiveness evaluation. The goal is to equip nonprofit staff and boards with the tools, skills, and support systems needed to successfully fulfill their missions.
Owing to the constraints of the budget allocated for each annual grant cycle, priority will be accorded to compact, rural-based organizations or initiatives that enhance outreach or services to rural populations. These should exhibit commitment to accountability, cultural respect, and community solidarity; maintain a stance of political neutrality and adhere to sustainable environmental practices; aim to uplift marginalized or inadequately served groups; foster collaboration and enjoy community backing; ensure that their board members contribute financially to the organization at a 100% rate; and have secured additional financial support for their endeavor. Proposals that thoroughly investigate and present both the actual and projected expenses associated with the proposed project will have a competitive edge. It is strongly recommended that applicants include detailed estimates and quotations for any subcontracted services or significant expenditures involved in their project within their grant application.
