The Banfield Foundation, launched by Banfield Pet Hospital in 2015, aims to ensure that all pets have access to veterinary care. Since its inception, the Foundation has dedicated over $1.7 million to impact almost 70,000 pets across 41 states and Washington, D.C., focusing on disaster relief, veterinary assistance, pet advocacy grants, and supporting the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Reaching UP program.
The Disaster Relief Grant aims to support nonprofit animal welfare organizations and government agencies affected by natural or other disasters. This program provides funding that can be used for medical supplies and veterinary care, pet food and supplies, temporary shelter or boarding, and other necessities to keep pets safe and comfortable. It also covers transportation costs for rescued or relocated pets and other expenses related to providing temporary shelter, such as overtime salaries and cleanup costs.
