The California Department of Parks and Recreation aims to provide for the health, inspiration and education of the people of California by helping to preserve the state's extraordinary biological diversity, protecting its most valued natural and cultural resources, and creating opportunities for high-quality outdoor recreation.
The GCA Program aims to support various activities related to Off-Highway Motor Vehicles (OHV), including the planning, acquisition, development, and maintenance of trails, trailheads, areas, and facilities for OHV use, as well as safety and education programs. A significant objective of this grant is to balance recreational OHV activities with the conservation of wildlife, soil, and habitat to ensure these activities are sustainable. Additionally, the OHMVR Division oversees the motorized segment of the Recreational Trails Program (RTP), a Federal Highway Administration program that funds the development and maintenance of recreational trails for both motorized and non-motorized uses.
