The CPUC regulates privately owned electric, natural gas, telecommunications, water, railroad, rail transit, and passenger transportation companies, in addition to authorizing video franchises. We empower California through access to safe, clean, and affordable utility services and infrastructure.
The CPUC's Equity and Access (E&A) Grant Program, established through the California Legislature's appropriation of $30,000,000 in the Budget Act of 2022 (AB 179), offers capacity grants to Tribes and community-based organizations (CBOs). These grants are for participation in CPUC decision-making processes and supporting activities. The Public Participation (PP) Grant is designed to remove financial and capacity-based barriers, allowing for a flexible and accessible application process. Organizations are compensated for participation in CPUC activities such as speaking on panels, participating in working groups, or other decision-making processes. There's a cap of $15,000 per organization to ensure a fair distribution of funds, with submissions accepted on a rolling basis until June 20, 2025, or until funds are depleted.
