The North River Environmental Benefit Program (NREBP) seeks proposals for projects designed to offer environmental benefits to the community surrounding the North River Waste Water Treatment Plant, particularly within Manhattan Community Board 9. The grant promotes efforts in areas like air quality monitoring, risk assessment, green space development, pollution abatement, storm water management, water quality improvement, and mitigation of chemical and petroleum spills. Additionally, it supports projects aimed at enhancing public enjoyment of natural resources, as well as increasing public awareness and understanding of ecological principles and environmental issues.

Review Criteria

In line with the arrangement set by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and New York City for the establishment of the Fund, projects located in the proximity of the North River Waste Water Treatment Plant will be prioritized.
