Metro works with communities, businesses and residents in the Portland metropolitan area to chart a wise course for the future while protecting the things we love about this place. Metro serves more than 1.7 million people in Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties.
The Community Enhancement Program by Gresham started in 2017 aims to redistribute funds from waste collection to support local community organizations. Specifically, it grants funds to projects that aim to improve economic opportunities, neighborhood livability, public safety, and enhance the general quality of life within the Gresham community. These projects may include efforts to enhance neighborhood appearance, protect natural environments, support public safety, provide recreational opportunities, or aid under-served populations. Activities eligible for funding encompass a broad range including park programs, senior and youth activities, community events like 5K runs, initiatives to improve job skills and opportunities for the unemployed or homeless, and projects aimed at enhancing safety, cleanliness, and the appearance of the community. Also eligible are efforts focused on preserving wildlife, recreational areas for public enjoyment, and heritage projects preserving Gresham’s history.
