Overview

The LSAMP grant program guides a broad spectrum of projects designed to support student development and retention within the STEM disciplines at various academic levels. It encourages alliances of institutions of higher education to implement strategies that increase the diversity of the STEM workforce by supporting students from underrepresented groups. These strategies include efforts to improve undergraduate and graduate education outcomes for LSAMP populations. The grant encompasses several types of projects:

  • Alliance Development Grants (ADG) for new collaborations.
  • Bridge-to-the-Baccalaureate (B2B) alliances to support student transfer to four-year STEM programs.
  • STEM Pathways Implementation-Only (SPIO) alliances, focusing on increasing STEM baccalaureate degrees and entry into graduate programs.
  • STEM Pathways Research Alliances (SPRA), which serve as models for excellence in broadening STEM participation and produce new research.
  • Bridge to STEM Graduate Degrees projects in national priority areas for both Master's (BD-Master's) and Doctoral (BD-Doctoral) levels, providing financial and academic support.
  • STEM Networking Incentives and Engagement (NETWORKS) projects to encourage participation in STEM networks.
