We deliver conservation solutions so agricultural producers can protect natural resources and feed a growing world.
The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) aims to provide financial and technical assistance to agricultural producers and non-industrial forest managers to address natural resource concerns, leading to multiple environmental benefits. These include improved water and air quality, enhanced soil health, reduced erosion, wildlife habitat enrichment, and mitigation against climate change impacts like drought and weather volatility. EQIP supports voluntary conservation practices by co-investing with producers to ensure sustainable agricultural operations and natural resource conservation. Specifically, it offers funding for initiatives relating to reducing agricultural contamination, efficient nutrient use, increasing soil health and resilience against climate change, and supporting organic growers or those transitioning to organic practices. Additionally, it includes specialized funding pools for various objectives, such as support for underserved farmers, conservation planning and implementation activities, and practices aimed at climate-smart agriculture and drought resilience. Other specific initiatives under EQIP include the On-Farm Energy Initiative for energy conservation, Oyster Reef Restoration Initiative for water quality and wildlife habitat, and support for implementing Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans (CNMPs).
