SD: Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)

From USDA: Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)

We deliver conservation solutions so agricultural producers can protect natural resources and feed a growing world.

Type of Support

Overview

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), administered by NRCS, is designed to help farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners integrate conservation efforts into their working lands. It provides both technical and financial support to address various natural resource concerns, including improving water and air quality, conserving water sources, enhancing soil health, reducing soil erosion, creating wildlife habitats, and mitigating against drought and weather volatility. Through personalized conservation plans, EQIP assists in implementing practices that benefit the environment while also improving agricultural operations. This can result in reduced contamination from agricultural sources, more efficient nutrient use, improved soil health, the implementation of climate-smart practices, and enhanced carbon sequestration and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
