Overview

The grant program aims to provide funding to support the development and improvement of essential public utilities in eligible rural areas. The focus is on projects that will establish or enhance clean and reliable drinking water systems, sanitary sewage and solid waste disposal, and storm water drainage. Eligible uses of the funds include but are not limited to the acquisition, construction, or improvement of drinking water treatment and distribution, sewer and waste disposal, and storm water drainage systems. Additional activities that may be financed include legal and engineering fees, land acquisition, permits, equipment purchase, start-up operations, interest during construction, and other necessary costs for project completion. This program thus supports specific causes related to environmental health and public safety by ensuring rural communities have access to critical infrastructure services.
