The State Water Resources Control Board seeks to preserve, enhance, and restore the quality of California’s water resources and drinking water for the protection of the environment, public health, and all beneficial uses, and to ensure proper water resource allocation and efficient use, for the benefit of present and future generations.
The grant program aims to provide both technical and financial assistance to drinking water systems for tackling the issue of Per-and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) contamination. With a total allocation of $100 million from the General Fund, as outlined in the Budget Act of 2021 and subsequent addendums, the funds are distributed over several fiscal years to support the efforts of water systems in addressing and mitigating PFAS in their water supplies.
