Overview

The grant program focuses on supporting local initiatives through environmental stewardship, sustainability education, community vitality, environmental justice, workforce and skills development, and supplier diversity. The goals include preserving renewable resources, empowering environmental stewards, educating communities for sustainability, enhancing neighborhoods for safe and sustainable living, addressing operational impacts for community thriving, developing workforce skills, and promoting economic development for underserved groups.

Submission

Review Criteria

Exclusions: Our funding does not extend to operational expenses, capital drives, individual persons, or foundations. The Waste Management Charitable Contributions scheme excludes support for the following areas:

  • Individuals;
  • Travel expenses for groups or individuals;
  • Individual requests for participation in fundraising activities like walks, runs, etc.;
  • Religious entities that provide services exclusively to their own members or are focused on spreading a specific religious doctrine, such as churches, missionary organizations, or sectarian aid efforts. However, support might be considered for religious programs that serve the broader community (for example, funding a church-run community soup kitchen);
  • Political candidates or organizations engaged in lobbying activities;
  • Endowments or Foundations;
  • Groups serving a narrow audience, including fraternities or labor unions;
  • Organizations that practice discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, religious ties, etc.;
  • Groups opposing business interests.
